Powersoft, a world-leading manufacturer of professional power amplifiers, continues its successful series of Webinars, with a new program that commences on October 4-5 at 3.00pm GMT.

Following on from the successful training forum presentations by Dave Rat and Steven Kemland, the next sessions will highlight all aspects of designing an audio system for TV programs such as X Factor Italy, where live music and broadcast audio are the key fundamentals, and how to overcome them. It will also look at how Powersoft can invigorate the PA on the live touring circuit.

Both Webinars will follow the same format as previously, with each host explaining the use of the technology followed by a live Q/A session where attendees can ask questions.

How to design live music and speech system for X Factor Italy TV show broadcast.
Thursday 5th October from 3.00-4.00pm GMT
Conducted by Massimo Faggioni, X Factor Italy FoH

FOH engineer for the 10th edition of Italian X Factor, Massimo Faggioni, explains how the system has been designed and the complexities faced by himself and sound designer Roberto Scioni setting up in the Linear 4 Ciak Theatre, with lasers, videos, and Spider cam intervening. In addition, they had to deal with issues such as weight loading of the loudspeakers and maintaining an SPL of 94dB(A)

In this situation, where mixing a live show which is sent for broadcast, the 8-channel Powersoft X8’s brought about a great reduction in cable. It also provided DSP and enabled full control via Armonía — which was set up in advance — while the virtual amps prepared on Armonîa were then paired with the physical ones.

Massimo will demonstrate how the endless possibilities of the X8 allowed him to process each signal channel output without the need for external signal processing. The amps were monitored in real time while all management could take place from a single platform.

The Webinar will be conducted in Italian but with English subtitles.

Massimo Faggioni entered his second decade as an expert in the field of Live Audio, having earned the reputation of being Recording, Mixing and Mastering Engineer Director. Massimo has been the sound engineer for the artists Antonella Ruggiero, Anna Oxa Soerba at Sanremo Music Festival, the most popular Italian song contest, and awards. He has worked on Albano Carrisi and Morgan and other Italian artists recordings and live shows, prior to X Factor Italy as FoH engineer.

How to reinvigorate the PA with X Series amplifier platform in live tour of
Australian Pink Floyd. Wednesday 4th October from 3.00-4.00pm GMT
Conducted by Robin Conway, Capital Sound Project manager

Over the past year, Capital Sound has been using Powersoft’s new X Series amplifiers to drive its passive systems. Conway explains how their newly configured Dante returns rack ensures that Powersoft’s new Dante-supporting platform is finding increasing popularity with sound crews.

For Capital, the purchasing decision of the X8’s had been a no-brainer. Conway recognized that this represented a significant platform and with its broadcast quality was entirely logical.

On this tour, Capital Sound ran four touring racks, each consisting of three X8 — thus giving them 24 amp channels per rack. He notes that this occupied just 12U of real estate, drawing very little power and easily fitting within a 63A, 3-phase touring power supply system — making it a hugely efficient option.

Robin Conway, now in his sixth year at Capital Sound, has moved the company forward with Digital Audio Networking and upgrading the company’s rental inventory. As Head of the Development team, he is currently working with and managing four loudspeaker brands. Capital Sound won the 2017 Festival Supplier Award for Best Sound at Barclaycard British Summertime Festival, and in 2016 won the Grand Prix Award at the Pro Sound Awards event.
