Connecting DEVA

There are three ways to connect the PDD to DEVA:

Connect the PDD to DEVA in a wired network

Connect the PDD and the DEVA in a wired network environment: use an Ethernet switch to establish a star topology where the PDD and the DEVA are the end points of the star.

A DHCP server must be present in the network in order to assign the IP addresses to the devices; the hosts in the network must belong to the same subnet.

In a domestic environment this configuration can be achieved through an Ethernet router/switch with built-in DHCP.

Both the DEVA and the PDD are set by default to receive an IP address from a DHCP server, making the wired connectivity straightforward and transparent to the user.

Once logged in the DEVA System Manager, click on the Discovery button in the top left side of the window: in few seconds the main window will be populated with a list of the connected DEVA.

See Network settings for detailed info about the network configuration of the DEVA.

Connect the PDD to DEVA in a wireless network

The DEVA are connected wireless to the Access Point; the PDD must use a wired connection to the Access Point.

By default DEVA tries to connect to a Wi-Fi network whose SSID is set to POWERSOFT.

Since both the DEVA and the PDD must be connected to the same network, we recommend to set the SSID of your Access Point to POWERSOFT via the PDD.

Please refer to the documentation of your Access Point for modifying the SSID.

Once logged in the DEVA System Manager, click on the Discovery button in the top left side of the window: in few seconds the main window will be populated with a list of the connected DEVA.

See Network settings for detailed info about the network configuration of the DEVA.

Connect the PDD directly to the DEVA built-in access point

DEVA can be set to behave as an Access Point. In this configuration the PDD can be directly connected to the DEVA.

In order to activate the Access Point functionality, the DEVA built-in wireless module must be configured as Access Point.

  1. Access the dashboard under the DEVA back panel
  2. Set the Wi-Fi mode selector to Acc. P. (Access Point)
  3. Reboot the DEVA.

By default the DEVA SSID is composed by the word deva-ap and the hex MAC address of the device, e.g. deva-ap-008421001C6A; the SSID can be customized via the DSM.

Log in the DEVA System Manager, click on the Discovery button in the top left side of the window: in few seconds the main window will show the DEVA you are connected to.

See Network settings for detailed info about the network configuration of the DEVA.
